NOMAD’S CULTURE LEGACY

Day 1
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel. City tour including a visit to Natural History Museum to see the collection of dinosaur fossils, and the Zaisan Memorial Hill to see a panoramic view of the capital city. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2
After breakfast visit the Gandan Monastery, including the beautiful Janraisag temple, the biggest working Buddhist monastery in Mongolia and the Bogd Khan Winter Palace, the home of the last Khan of Mongolia who ruled until 1924. After lunch drive to Bayan Gobi 280km away. Dinner at the Hoyor Zagal tourist camp and overnight. DAY PROGRAMS FOR MONGOLIAN NOMAD'S LIFESTYLE:

Day 3
Breakfast at the camp, exploration of the local sand dunes and hiking for photo sessions. After lunch attend the Mongolian Ger Program, which will give you an introduction to the traditional Mongolian dwelling, the ger. Learn how to assemble a ger and how to pack the components on a camel or bull cart. The program duration is two to four hours. Dinner and overnight in the ger camp.

Day 4
After breakfast pick up your horses and ride to the home of a nomadic family. Picnic lunch. After lunch attend the Milk and Dairy Product Program. Tourists will hold the calves while the cows are milked, boil milk, make tarag (yogurt) and other dairy products. Tourists will also be introduced to the traditional method of making Mongolian vodka (arkhi). Enjoy a traditional Mongolian dinner with airag* and ride back to the camp. Overnight.

Day 5
After breakfast saddle your horses and ride to the home of another local nomad family. Picnic lunch. After lunch attend the Mongolian Herdsmen Program. Tourist can participate in catching horses and preparing them for riding. They will be acquainted with the Mongolian legends and traditions about horses, cattle, sheep and goats, and milking mares and making airag. Ride back to camp and have dinner. Overnight.

Day 6
After an early breakfast, transport to Karakorum (90km). Visit Erdene-Zuu Monastery. Tour the monastery grounds and see several temples with examples of Buddhist Iconography dating from the 16th century. Visit the symbolic ruins of Karakorum, the 13th century imperial capital of the Mongol Empire. Return to camp for dinner and overnight in the ger.

Day 7
Breakfast at base camp. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, arriving in the afternoon. Lunch on the way. Arrive to the Chinggis village tourist camp. Take a lesson in archery, one of the Mongolian national sports. Have a dinner at the camp and see a Mongolian folk dance and music performance. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and overnight at hotel.

Day 8
Departure transfer.
